The Addamus: Choral Interrail is a truly unique and innovative programme for aspiring professional singers. It offers world-class choral training in Italy’s most historic and breathtaking churches, such as Florence Cathedral, Milan Cathedral, and the Vatican. Over two intensive weeks, participants will work alongside our renowned faculty, experience the life of a professional musician, and connect with passionate musicians from around the world. The programme also provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Italy’s historic culture, creating unforgettable memories unrivalled by any other course.
Our repertoire spans from plainchant to Renaissance polyphony, featuring masterpieces by great choral composers and contemporary works conducted by their creators. This exceptional access allows you to explore the stories behind these compositions. Participants will perform in over eight public events across 6 cities—ranging from concerts to masses—while rehearsing challenging repertoire, performing solo songs, attending masterclasses and individual singing lessons. You will develop skills in ensemble musicianship, vocal production, pronunciation, and historically informed performance, along with opportunities for choral direction.
This highly exclusive course also offers invaluable experience for aspiring professional singers or University and Choral Scholar applicants, looking to enhance their professional CVs. You'll connect with driven young professionals and receive guidance from faculty members with over 80 years of combined experience, including artists featured in BBC broadcasts and collaborations with prestigious groups such as The King’s Singers, Gabrieli Consort, and Voces8, as well as renowned universities like Oxford and Cambridge.

Voice Type: Specify your vocal range (soprano, alto, tenor, or bass).
CV/Bio: Provide a brief overview of your musical background and experience in 200 words.
Personal Statement: In 200 words, explain your interest in the course and what you hope to achieve.
Referee Contact: Include the name and contact details of a music teacher or professional who can provide a reference.
Two Audio Recordings:
A recording of an accompanied piece (a smartphone recording or YouTube link is acceptable).
A recording of a verse of unaccompanied folk song or hymn.
Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of $50.

Application Process:
We aim to create a balanced chamber choir, so we encourage experienced choral singers with strong note-reading abilities to apply. Your application should include a statement detailing your singing experience.
A limited number of scholarships are available upon request.

What is the typical daily schedule?
Each day of the programme differs. Some days are designated singing rest days, allowing cultural immersion through museum visits. Other days are rehearsal and masterclass-focused, leading to an afternoon or early evening performance. Each day ends with dinner together.
When do you travel to different cities?
We aim to travel in the mornings.
Where will I be staying?
City-centre accommodation is provided in beautiful cities throughout Italy, ensuring a fully immersive experience.
What meals are included?
Breakfast and 12 evening meals are included. Participants are responsible for lunch arrangements.
What is the course language?
English. Though there will be ample opportunities to practise your Italian.
Will the music be sent in advance, and will there be any resources to aid learning?
Each applicant will receive learning resources before the course for individual study, allowing them to maximise the experience.
